OCTOBER 12TH - NIGHTMARES - THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

IMDB Summary: A divorcee becomes entangled in a missing persons investigation that promises to send shock waves throughout her life. IMDB

For today's special I watched the movie The Girl On The Train. Once again, I should be honest by saying, I read the book before seeing this movie. So I might be biased however, my view on this movie is quite a bit different from my last post. I would classify this movie into the Thriller/Mystery category.

The main character Rachel (Emily Blunt) is recently divorced from her husband Tom who has gotten remarried to the woman he cheated on Rachel with, Anna. Rachel becomes an alcoholic, loses her job and doesn't really have a purpose in life. In an effort to hide from her roommate that she lost her job, every day Rachel gets on the train goes into the city, wanders around, then takes the train home. Rachel becomes infatuated with a couple who lives in a house off of the train tracks. One night she gets quite drunk and wanders onto their street because this couple only lives two houses away from Tom and Anna. Rachel wakes up the next morning and doesn't remember what happened. Then in the local news she finds out that the girl she has been infatuated with (Megan) is missing. Rachel gets herself wrapped up in the investigation in an effort to remember what happened that night and find out who is to blame.

First of all.. SUCH A GOOD BOOK. Seriously it keeps you on your toes throughout. This movie, honestly I can't believe I'm saying this, really lived up to the book. Sure there were parts I wish they would've added in and they changed some small things. But overall they did such a good job with this movie. For someone who read the book I wasn't disappointed. I also felt as though if you went and saw the movie without reading the book, although it is a bit confusing, they do a really good job of explaining whats going on so you understand by the end. I'm so happy this movie turned out so great.

My Rating: 10/10

  1. I've been wondering how the book and movie compared! I enjoyed the book (thought she was nutso, but still), and was skeptical that the movie would be as much fun. Guess I will give it a go...
