OCTOBER 26TH - NOURISHMENT & NIGHTMARES - QDOBA & AMERICAN HORROR STORY 6

IMDB Summary: An anthology series that centers on different characters and locations, including a murder house, an asylum, a coven, a freak show, a hotel and a sinister farmhouse. IMDB

So tonight I decided to give a review now that I am caught up and am half way through this series. I will give a final thoughts review at the end of the series as well. For my meal tonight, I picked up Qdoba on the way home from work. I am a huge Qdoba fan, Chipotle falls waaaaaay behind. I get nachos with my chips on the side, which is basically a dip. I get queso, ground beef, pico de gallo, cheese, and guacamole.

As for this season so far... I'm shook. I cannot believe how this has gone so far because the plot is so intertwined. At this point half way through it is a show, within a show, within a show. So there's three separate shows that you kind of have to keep up with and try to remember who is who. So far I'm loving it, its extremely intense, kinda screwed up and seriously keeps you on the edge of your seat. It also makes you think a lot. My friends and I could not stop saying "OMG WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF THAT WAS YOU", and that's my absolute favorite thing with scary movies.

Overall they have sone a great job with this season so far so I am thrilled to see where they go from here. There's a lot of questions and things to wrap up at the end so I hope they do a great job with the end of it.

My Rating(so far): 9/10

October 19TH - NOURISHMENT & NIGHTMARES - TONTINO'S & THE UNINVITED

IMDB Summary: Anna Ivers returns home to her sister Alex after a stint in a mental hospital, though her recovery is jeopardized thanks to her cruel stepmother. Her dismay quickly turns to horror when she is visited by ghastly visions of her dead mother. IMDB

Tonight's special is an old favorite of mine. The Uninvited was one of the first scary movies I ever saw and tonight I just felt like re-watching it. I would put this into a horror/thriller category. It is your stereotypical horror movie about demonic possession and mental illness. To go along with the movie, I chose a wonderful late night snack, Totino's Sausage pizza. If those pizzas don't scream college.. idk what does.

This movie is one where you will leave going "What the heck? Why didn't I see that coming?". It's a story of a girl named Anna who is in a mental hospital after the loss of her sick mother. The mother became terminally ill and the family moved her to the boat house, just off of the main house. One night, gas leaked into the boat house and it caught on fire, killing the mother. When Anna returns from the hospital, she comes home to her mother's nurse (Rachel), who is now her dad's new girlfriend. She has a hard time grasping this and feels like there's something seriously wrong going on. Anna and her sister Alex go on an investigation of Rachel's past and find out some really weird things. One night, while the father goes away, the situation turns ugly. You'll have to watch to see the twist at the end.. I promise you won't know what's coming.

In my opinion, this is a greaaaat movie. There are plenty of typical jumpy scares throughout. Even though I wouldn't say this movie haunted me later, the twist KILLED ME and I was so shook that I went home thinking about it for awhile. They did a great job with special effects and not making it too cheesy. I also feel as though the plot line is quite realistic and you could think about it happening in your own life.

OCTOBER 12TH - NIGHTMARES - THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

IMDB Summary: A divorcee becomes entangled in a missing persons investigation that promises to send shock waves throughout her life. IMDB

For today's special I watched the movie The Girl On The Train. Once again, I should be honest by saying, I read the book before seeing this movie. So I might be biased however, my view on this movie is quite a bit different from my last post. I would classify this movie into the Thriller/Mystery category.

The main character Rachel (Emily Blunt) is recently divorced from her husband Tom who has gotten remarried to the woman he cheated on Rachel with, Anna. Rachel becomes an alcoholic, loses her job and doesn't really have a purpose in life. In an effort to hide from her roommate that she lost her job, every day Rachel gets on the train goes into the city, wanders around, then takes the train home. Rachel becomes infatuated with a couple who lives in a house off of the train tracks. One night she gets quite drunk and wanders onto their street because this couple only lives two houses away from Tom and Anna. Rachel wakes up the next morning and doesn't remember what happened. Then in the local news she finds out that the girl she has been infatuated with (Megan) is missing. Rachel gets herself wrapped up in the investigation in an effort to remember what happened that night and find out who is to blame.

First of all.. SUCH A GOOD BOOK. Seriously it keeps you on your toes throughout. This movie, honestly I can't believe I'm saying this, really lived up to the book. Sure there were parts I wish they would've added in and they changed some small things. But overall they did such a good job with this movie. For someone who read the book I wasn't disappointed. I also felt as though if you went and saw the movie without reading the book, although it is a bit confusing, they do a really good job of explaining whats going on so you understand by the end. I'm so happy this movie turned out so great.

OCTOBER 5TH - NIGHTMARES - THE 5TH WAVE

IMDB Summary: Four waves of increasingly deadly alien attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. IMDB

Tonight I watched the movie, The 5th Wave. To be completely fair and honest I read the book before seeing the movie so I might have a very different opinion than a lot of people who maybe didn't read it. This movie falls into more of an action/scyfy but it was still a thriller so I decided to include it.

This movie is about an alien race that arrives on Earth and starts taking out the human population with waves. The first wave is a loss of power, not just electricity, cars stopped working, planes stopped flying, etc. The second wave was natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and hurricanes. The third wave was a disease spread through birds which killed you from the inside out. The four wave was the alien race inhabiting human bodies and killing humans. The fifth wave you figure out in the book/movie. The main character Cassie is in a constant battle to stay alive and keep her five year old brother Sammy alive.

Overall, I loved the book. It was extremely realistic and really made you think about how it would play out if something like this were to happen. But the movie didn't quite match up to the book's greatness (are we shocked though?). The movie changed things around and I don't think it was well explained. The plot line is super confusing and complicated even with all of the explaining in the book that I felt like if I were a person not having read the book I wouldn't have understood the movie. I would love to hear someone's opinion who didn't read the book on the movie because there was a lot more they should've added. However, the movie was good for the most part, it kept you on edge and the actors chosen were great.

My Rating: 7/10
