SEPTEMBER 21ST - NOURISHMENT & NIGHTMARES - MCDONS & 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE

IMDB Summary: After getting in a car accident, a woman is held in a shelter with two men, who claim the outside world is affected by a widespread chemical attack. IMDB

Today I chose McDonald's with an excellent syfy scary movie. Although me eating McDonald's is completely normal, watching syfy movies usually aren't common for me. Usually I find them to be unrealistic and therefore they don't really "haunt" me. However, this movie did a great job of being realistic and believable.

This movie starts off with the main character, Michelle, leaving her fiancĂ© and getting into a car crash. She wakes up in a cell with two other people in this underground bunker. The owner of the bunker (and the guy who caused her crash) is named Howard. He is a typical "prepper", you know, those people who spend their time preparing for the end of the world. He builds this insane bunker with running water, electricity, and more food than I even have in my kitchen (broke college student problems). In this bunker is Howard, Michelle and then another random character Emmett. You end up getting pretty attached to Emmett even though they fail at giving information on his background. Howard explains there was an attack and that they can't go outside, everyone is dead, and the air is toxic. Michelle and Emmett start questioning this Howard guy. The rest of the movie consists of these two trying to escape outside and see what's going on.

There are quite a few jumpy scares that keep you entertained, along with the constant curiosity of what the heck is going on outside that keeps them in this bunker. On top of that, another fear would be, is this Howard guy really who he says he is? All in all, I thought it was a pretty creepy movie. It was realistic as far as story line. The "monsters" on the outside aren't unrealistic and the plot of them cutting off power and making the air toxic is probably pretty accurate to what would happen if we were actually attacked by an alien force.

My Rating: 7/10

  1. I would agree with your opinions! I remember seeing it in theaters and although labeled as a somewhat scary movie I thought I was much more in the thriller genre. I would like to see it again!
